KELLYVILLE,
Okla. (April 19, 2008) - Jamie Passmore just might
be taking a liking to Creek County Speedway after picking up
his second OCRS victory of the season here on Saturday.
After winning the OCRS season opener at Creek on April 5,
Passmore once again dominated the tight quarter mile oval
winning the 25-lap main event over Matt Sherrell.
Passmore passed early leader
Travis Jenkins on lap 13 and led the final 12
laps on the way to victory. Jenkins held on to second until
the final lap when Sherrell slipped by. Jenkins settled for
third and was followed by Rafe Essary in fourth and Shane
Pace fifth.
The main
event got off to a rough start as Waylon Weaver turned over
on his top just out of turn two on the opening lap and
defending champion Mike Goodman was unable to avoid contact
and nosed into him. The restart saw a yellow wave as David
Dutton tangled with another car in turn three. Another
attempt at a restart ended with another yellow when Danny
Smith stopped in turn four after contact with another car in
turn two caused front end damage. Goodman, who earlier won
the B main to earn his way into the A feature, could not
miss Smith and this time it was enough to send Goodman to
the pits for the night.
The next
restart was good and Jenkins roared into the lead with
Passmore coming from third row inside to second. Passmore
chased Jenkins for 11 laps before finally challenging on lap
12. The next lap Passmore made his move into the lead.
Goodman
started on the pole of the B main and went the distance for
the win. Zach Beeler finished second with Len Larking
working his way into third. Keith Bolton rounded out the top
four A main transfers.
New winners emerged in the
five regular classes seeing action on Saturday. Austin
McSperitt, Kevin Lacy, Mark Duensing, Jeff Maggard and Rick
McKinney grabbed their first wins of the season.
Lacy paid his first victory
of the season to Creek and came from the back to win the
modified main event. Lacy worked his way second on lap 14
and chased down early leader Chad Davis. On the final lap
Lacy took away the lead leaving Davis with second. Nick
Henson moved into the points lead with his third place
finish.
McSperitt started on the
front of the super stock A feature and he led all 20 laps
for the win. Daniel Pruitt wheeled into second followed by
Kevin Hill and Nathan Campbell. Campbell moved into second
on lap 13 but ran into trouble when he tried to slip under
McSperitt for the lead at the same time Pruitt decided to
make a move. The two collided with McSperitt in turn four
forcing a yellow flag. Only Campbell was stalled on the
track and had to restart on the rear. McSperitt went on to
victory with Tommy Romine charging into second on lap 18.
Jimmy Owen moved into third dropping Pruitt to fourth.
Michael Stucks was
disqualified after winning the mini stock main event and
that gave the win to Jeff Maggard. Stucks shot into the lead
after three laps and cruised to victory. His tires failed
inspection and he was DQ'ed which handed the win to Maggard
who was running second.
Mark Duensing grabbed the
lead with two laps remaining to win the pure stock feature.
With two laps left Ed Gragg raced into second.
Defending champion Rick
McKinney finally got back in the winners circle with a final
lap win in the front wheel drive division. McKinney worked
his way up behind leader Brad Bishop and slipped past in
turn three for his first victory of the season. Bishop
remained in second and Toby Cooper was third.
